Unglazed Porcelain

These two frogs were an early exploration into using porcelain clay for small sculptural forms, and as netsuke and ojime.  Sanded to produce a very smooth quality to the surface, much like polishing stone, they are surprisingly pleasant to touch.  As porcelain is nearly completely vitrified, a bit of translucence  can be perceived in good light.

Shipping and Policies

I would like to explain the pricing of the vintage carved porcelain presented here.  When pieces were completed prices were assigned.  Now that two to three decades have passed, the original prices are outdated.  I have used a Department Of Labor inflation calculator to determine what the original prices would be in this year’s dollars.  The last calculations were done in 2017 for the current pricing.

Hand-carving the small sculptural porcelain pieces took careful and time-consuming effort.  The more complex and detailed sculptural pieces have higher prices that are directly related to the amount of time that it took to reach completion.
